Are you a young creative interested in branding? Are you a budding designer and want to gain industry experience?

Blaze is looking for 26 young people aged 16-30 from across the North West to shape Blaze’s new branding! We are offering 26 places to develop our new branding alongside professional designer Millie Davis. You will shape the look and feel of Blaze moving forward!

Who are we looking for?  

Blaze’s vision is to see a more diverse art sector where more young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds have jobs in the arts. We are particularly interested in supporting people often marginalised from the arts including: working class people, disabled people, People of South, East and South East Asian heritage, People of African or Caribbean heritage, Irish Traveller heritage and Latinx heritage.

How long will the project last?  

The project will run from January- March 2021. It will run online using Zoom video calling. It is not too much of a commitment however if you are interested there’s more options to be more involved and to learn about specific aspects.

You will be involved in:

1x hour of research

1x hour of sketching and creating your letter form.

1x hour workshop to create digital typeface (Voluntary)

1x hour workshop to create branding guidelines (Voluntary)

Opportunity to present design ideas to the board of trustees with support from Millie Davis.  

We will have a shared digital space where we will share designs, updates and gather your ideas and feedback to the designer throughout the process.

What you will explore:

-How is Blaze currently perceived?

-How do we create something that represents YOU?

-Find and discuss some branding you like already.

Each person in the group will design a letter to be used in the new Blaze bespoke typeface font. You will work with Professional graphic designer Millie Davis, throughout the process you will take part in workshops, seminars and gain professional advice. If you are interested we will be offering workshops on creating branding, patterns/ motifs and logo creation with an opportunity to form a brand hand-book involving these aspects.

The rebrand will be split into different sections:

Research – Collecting your ideas and branding you love!

Design – Drawing and designing a letter each!

Collating guidelines – Creating Patterns, secondary font,

Application – Social media assets and templates, way-finding, banners and icons.
