Love Notes

July 8, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 11:30 pm

A group of local young people, led by Blaze Arts and Curious Minds, have been meeting at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston each week to creatively respond to the Harris. As a result of these meetings, the group, called the ‘Harris Transformers’, have created an innovative event and exhibition that celebrates the history and heritage of Preston. The show-stopping finale will be a cinematic light and sound show, taking place on Sunday 8th July at the Harris and on the Flag Market.

Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, ‘Love Notes to Preston’ will feature letterpress workshops, poetry sessions, and the opportunity to view objects in the Harris’ collection previously unseen to the general public. The Transformers have also been collaborating with Lancashire-based projection artists Illuminos to create a light show which will be projected onto the outside of the Harris building after dark celebrating Preston and its rich heritage.

Commenting on the upcoming exhibition, Matt Wilde, director of Blaze Arts, said:

“The Transformers programme has been a brilliant opportunity for the young people of Preston to get involved with their local heritage. This exhibition will be an excellent chance for the public to view the work of the next generation of artists and producers in Preston. We are excited to showcase their creativity and cannot wait for the public to see what they have been working on.

‘A Love Note to Preston’ will be running from 12:00pm at the Harris Museum on Sunday 8th July and is free of charge. The light show will be projected onto the Harris from the Flag Market from 10:00pm. For a full programme of events, please contact sam@blazeonline.org.uk, or view our Facebook event page
