DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce that we’ve received funding from Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside to deliver CREATE CAREFREE!\n\nAre you aged 16 – 24?   \nHave recent events made you feel more anxious or stressed?  \nAre you looking for something relaxing and creative to do this summer?  \n  \nCreate Carefree is a series of free informal artist led workshops taking place in Burnley between 23 – 27 August 2021.   \n  \nMeet different artists   \nTry something new  \nConnect with other creative people   \nRelax and reflect  \n  \n Develop your skills or try something new from poetry and rap to spin painting and zine making.\n  \n  \nTo take part fill out this short form  \n  \nThe Line Up: \nMon 23rd Aug – Spin Painting and Marbling with Banu Adam from Arts2Heal\nExplore the idea of ‘letting go’ of what you can’t control through spin painting and marbling techniques. This workshop will be led by Banu Adam from Arts 2 Heal\, an organisation that delivers arts-health focused activities across Lancashire. \nTues 24th Aug – Drawing and Zine making with Luci Pina.\nHave a go at drawing in different styles and creating your own magazine. \nWeds 25th Aug – Photography with Garry Cook\nLearn how to take better photographs of people using your camera phone and tell stories through images in this workshop with professional photographer and writer\, Garry Cook. \nThurs 26th Aug – Zine making with Hannah Whitlow. \nHannah is the Blaze Programme Producer and an artist in her own right. If you have ever wanted to create your own magazines\, now you can! Find out about the history of self made zines\, and learn how to create your own zines using drawing\, writing and collage. \nFri 27th Aug – Poetry workshop with Jonny Cosmo\nInvisible Images – Painting poetic pictures with words in order to explore hidden truths and creativity that lies within us all with poet Jonny Cosmo. \nSat 28th Aug -FREE Trip to Blackpool with Workshop from Tina Dempsey and Garth Gratrix.\nA free trip to Blackpool\, visiting The Grundy Art gallery and other creative spots. Including a creative workshop with artists and curators Tina and Garth. (This trip is for people that have attended at least one artist workshop) \n  \nThe maximum number of participants at any workshop is 20. The room we’ll be using has a maximum capacity of 50 so there is plenty of space for people to spread out. Participants will need to wear a mask when walking around the space but this can be taken off when sat 2m apart. Hand sanitiser will be available and all furniture and equipment will be cleaned thoroughly between workshops. \n  \nThis project was generously supported with funding from Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside. \n\n  \n

This opportunity is also for young people who don’t have an arts background but have an interest and are curious to get involved. \n  \nHow long will the project last?\nThe festival will take place in July. The project at times will be flexible to your schedules but the core group will meet regularly and sub groups can decide when they want to meet. Do you want to shake up the arts scene in Wigan for you and other young people? \n  \nThe Wigan and Leigh CEP is looking for young people who are interested in becoming creative activators. You will have your say on what sorts of arts and culture activities you want to happen in the Wigan borough. You will get the chance to express your opinions on how things are run\, share your ideas for new programmes\, have your voice heard and feed into big decisions.  \n  \nWhat is the Wigan and Leigh CEP?\nThe Wigan and Leigh Cultural Education Partnership (WLCEP for short) is a group of arts and cultural organisations\, schools and colleges in the Wigan borough whose shared mission is to ensure every young person in Wigan has access to high quality arts experiences. \n  \nWhy get involved?\n\nTo learn new skills \nGet access to exclusive opportunities\nAttend inspiring training\nCreate opportunities for other young people \nMeet like minded people\nGreat experience to add to your CV\, attending college\, university or for future employers.\nLearn about what creative jobs are out there\nGain accreditation \nHave fun!\n\nWho are we looking for?  \nWhoever you are\, we would love to hear from you! To ensure a diversity of voices in the Creative Activators project\, the WLCEP would particularly like to hear from you if you are not already engaged in arts activities\, if you have never done anything like this before or if you have been marginalised/disadvantaged in your life in other ways. For example\, this includes young people (14-19yrs) who identify as working class\, LGBTQIA+\, deaf or disabled\, care-experienced\, young carers\, young people of South\, East and South East Asian heritage\, African or Caribbean heritage\, Gypsy\, Roma or Irish Traveller heritage or Latinx heritage.  \n  \nHow long will the project last?\nThe first phase of the project is 5 weekly online sessions on Mondays at 6-7:30pm  \nThese sessions are about you finding out more about becoming a Creative Activator. Sessions will include creative activities\, games\, a chance to meet new people and be inspired.  \n1st March Session 1 – What is culture anyway? What can it do? Is it for me? \n8th March  Session 2 – Youth Voice and Youth Leadership. \n15th March Session 3– What is a Creative Activator? \n22nd March – Session 4 – What do YOU want from arts and culture in Wigan?\n29th March – Session 5– Next steps: How to get involved. DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to have a go at creating your own prints? \nJoin Blaze Arts and Dizzy Ink for a free online Risograph Printing workshop. In this workshop you will: \nRisograph or\, Riso for short\, is a stencil duplicator. Think of it as a cross between screen printing and photocopying. The Riso prints one colour at a time in bright\, vibrant colours. It is ideal for posters\, graphic prints\, zines\, comics\, and other graphic arts. \nIn this workshop you will print in 2 colours. You can make something in preparation or make something within the session once you see what other people are printing.  \nYou will just need to turn up with 1 or 2 pieces of artwork or ideas that you want to work on.  \nYou can have them on a creative suite or they can be hand drawn things. Craig from Dizzy Ink will go through each person’s artwork to help you out with formatting it for the Risograph printing process.  \nThere are 10 spaces available. This workshop is for Young people aged 16-25 who have an interest in printing.  \nBlaze’s vision is to see a more diverse art sector where more underrepresented young people have jobs in the arts. We are particularly interested in supporting people often marginalised from the arts including: working class people\, disabled people\, People of South\, East and South East Asian heritage\, People of African or Caribbean heritage\, Irish Traveller heritage and Latinx heritage. \nThis workshop will run on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Some people seem to be loving the lockdown\, others are hating it\, some are frightened and many\ntell me they’re just so bored! How are you doing? You ok? \nIf you live in Burnley and are aged between 14-25 I’d really like to hear how the lockdown\nexperience is for you? The reason I’m asking is that I would like you to be part of a public art\nproject that I’m working on with young people in the town called Generation Change.\nI’m Tina Dempsey by the way\, I’m a visual artist from Blackpool and my work is all about exploring\nour wellbeing\, what makes us feel happy\, what we find difficult to cope with and how art can\nsupport and nurture us. \nThe Generation Change project is all about giving young people in Burnley a voice\, letting you have\nyour say and working with an artist\, me\, to form your words into an artwork that will be seen all\naround the town and maybe beyond?! \nIf you want to take part all you need to do is get in touch with me to say how you’re feeling during\nthe lockdown. You can tell me as little or as much as you like\, what’s good\, bad & in between\,\nwhat’s annoying you\, what’s frightening you\, what’s comforting you? The festival places young people at the heart of design\, making\, programming and production.  There is an opportunity to become a young leader as part of Festival of Hope in Sefton. \n‘Butterflies in the Chaos‘ facilitated by Liverpool-based artist Laurence Payot as part of the Festival of Hope. DESCRIPTION:A group of local young people\, led by Blaze Arts and Curious Minds\, have been meeting at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston each week to creatively respond to the Harris. As a result of these meetings\, the group\, called the ‘Harris Transformers’\, have created an innovative event and exhibition that celebrates the history and heritage of Preston. The show-stopping finale will be a cinematic light and sound show\, taking place on Sunday 8th July at the Harris and on the Flag Market.  \n  \nMade possible by money raised by National Lottery players\, ‘Love Notes to Preston’ will feature letterpress workshops\, poetry sessions\, and the opportunity to view objects in the Harris’ collection previously unseen to the general public. The Transformers have also been collaborating with Lancashire-based projection artists Illuminos to create a light show which will be projected onto the outside of the Harris building after dark celebrating Preston and its rich heritage.  \n  \nCommenting on the upcoming exhibition\, Matt Wilde\, director of Blaze Arts\, said:  \n“The Transformers programme has been a brilliant opportunity for the young people of Preston to get involved with their local heritage. This exhibition will be an excellent chance for the public to view the work of the next generation of artists and producers in Preston. DESCRIPTION:We’re searching for a Youth Facilitator to work on our latest project – Harris Transformers: \nBlaze is a project of Curious Minds that offers any young person aged between 14 and 21\, the opportunity to work with professional artists to provide a first supported step into the cultural sector and creative industries. Blaze has successfully showcased young people’s original work at the Blaze Festival which has run each year since 2012. \nProject Outline \nThe ‘Harris Transformers’ is a programme of youth engagement with the Harris’ rich heritage in the heart of Preston. It is delivered by Blaze\, a youth-led organisation with a strong track record of work across Lancashire developing the next generation of cultural leaders and artists. \nThe Harris Museum and Art Gallery is being ‘Re-Imagined’ in a way that maintains the institution’s founding vision of edification and inspiration whilst responding to the needs of the people of the city\, and the region\, for future generations. The Harris Transformers will take part in this process\, learning about the museum’s past\, present and future in order to form and share opinions on its redevelopment. As part of their role\, the Harris Transformers will engage the public\, facilitating consultation and developing the Harris’ existing audience. \nThe Role \nFee: £1320 days for approximately 12 half days (VAT/travel inclusive) \nThe Youth Facilitator will be responsible for engaging young people creatively through the Harris Transformers project. They will offer guidance and training to young people \nThe Youth Facilitator will be responsible for engaging young people in The Harris Transformers project. \nThe Youth Facilitator will be charismatic and have the ability to deliver active sessions with good pace. We are looking for a flexible\, confident practitioner who will plan sessions report to the Project Manager \nExpressions of Interest \nPlease be succinct and direct explaining clearly your proposal\, how it meets the project outline\, aim and possible objectives. Tell us about the specific outcomes of your work with children\, the impact of your projects and describe in brief the evidence upon which you based these judgments.
